Timothy R. Devlin

Tim serves as Co-Managing Partner and sits on the firm’s Executive Committee. Tim specializes in growing closely held businesses. Scott A. Walters

Experience

Scott is a Partner in the Audit & Accounting Services Department and is based in our Sunrise office. He provides expert guidance on technical matters related to generally accepted accounting principles and SEC rules and regulations. With a particular focus on the interpretation and application of new accounting pronouncements and compliance requirements, Scott guides for-profit companies and not-for-profit organizations to ensure a comprehensive understanding of corporate governance policies and the need for transparent financial reporting. He provides oversight and coordination of the Firm’s attestation practice, and is a member of the Executive Committee.

Scott has specialized in U.S. GAAP compliance and SEC rules and regulations since 1990 when he worked with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. He provides technical consultations on the application of generally accepted accounting principles for complex and/or structured transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Daszkal Bolton LLP, Scott was responsible for the interpretation and application of accounting and SEC rules and regulations, coordination and oversight of all SEC filings for a DAX 10 Company. Prior to that, Scott was a partner at KPMG.

Brett Burgan

Experience

Brett is a Partner, and oversees Litigation Support and Forensic Accounting services for Daszkal Bolton. He provides forensic accounting assistance to attorneys and their clients in civil matters involving insolvency, stockholder disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, embezzlement, and other business related matters. He focuses on uncovering the essential facts of a case by completing a thorough analysis of the financial records, including computerized files. He participates in family and matrimonial matters, including exhibit preparation and testimony.

Prior to joining the firm, Brett worked as a senior accountant for a local boutique CPA firm, where he performed forensic accounting, litigation support and management duties for bankruptcy, insolvency and litigation clients including numerous debtors, receivers, and panel trustees including temporary business management of Chapter 11 properties and businesses, forensic review and retrieval of books and records, identification and retrieval of concealed assets; preparation of preferential and insider fraudulent payment analyses, preparation of claims objection analyses, preparation of solvency analysis, preparation of Chapter 11 periodic reports, forecasts for continued operations, liquidation analyses for Chapter 11 confirmation, preparation of Chapter 11 bankruptcy schedules and statement of financial affairs. In addition to working with numerous U.S. trustees and state and federal receivers, Brett has cooperated in investigations with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Brett obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Saint Francis College. Barry Gurland

Arthur J. Hurley

Art is a Partner with Daszkal Bolton and founder of the firm’s professional athlete and celebrity niche practice, Game Plan. Since the early 1980s, he has become one of the most experienced and respected sports accountants in the industry. Art develops comprehensive and coordinated financial plans, including cash flow management, tax planning and compliance, risk management, and business advisory services for his clients. He works in concert with his client’s advisors, including their attorney, agent and investment advisors to be sure that everyone is on the same page and working towards achieving the client’s goals.  Art also assists his clients with second career planning, ensuring a smooth transition to their next profession from the sports industry. He continues to act as his clients’ trusted advisor beyond their sports and entertainment careers.

Art has advised and provided financial management services to hundreds of professional athletes and entertainers. Early in his career, Art recognized the unique accounting and financial needs of professional athletes and sought to develop a platform from which to provide those specific services. Deana Love

Deana is a CPA, an attorney, and serves as the Private Client Services Leader for Daszkal Bolton. She has more than 20 years of experience working exclusively with high net worth families in the design and implementation of comprehensive income tax, financial, and estate planning solutions. Deana began her career at one of the nation’s largest accounting firms. Subsequently, she served as a partner of a national tax firm that specialized in tax services for high net worth families.  Deana’s clients include some of the wealthiest families in the region.

Deana has authored articles for several publications, including The Tax Adviser and The Lawyer. Craig M. Podradchik

Faith is the Director of our State and Local Tax Practice at Daszkal Bolton. She is a nationally-recognized expert in state and local taxation, with a primary focus on income/franchise and sales and use taxation. She provides consultations for the purpose of limiting the state tax impact of corporate decisions and activities. Faith concentrates on state and local tax issues for multi-state corporations, including nexus/jurisdiction for tax, economic and affiliate nexus, discriminatory taxation, unitary business principal, gross receipts definition, and apportionment issues. She also represents companies with multistate tax audits. In addition, Faith works with individuals changing residency to Florida including handling state residency audits. Faith has been qualified as an expert witness in state and local tax matters and provides testimony at depositions and trials in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach County.

Faith assists companies in restructuring their management operations to minimize state and local income taxes. She has successfully reduced large state sales tax assessments and frequently discovers overpayments of sales tax through her analyses. Faith also provides assistance for mergers, acquisitions and dispositions with multi-state interests. James Novick

Experience

Ray oversees the area of human resource management for Daszkal Bolton. His primary responsibilities include the strategic development, recruitment and retention of the firm’s professionals. More specifically, he oversees talent management, employee relations, management of the firm’s employee benefits and compensation models, and ongoing employee engagement initiatives as well as the firm’s policies and procedures for all matters related to human capital.

Ray has more than 25 years of experience in human resources. Prior to joining Daszkal Bolton, he oversaw human resources in Florida for a national public accounting firm for eight years. Other professional experiences include a series of progressive roles in human resources with one of the nation’s largest providers of private security services.

Prior to joining the firm as a Principal, Colleen was the founder and Managing Partner of DeWoody & Co., a boutique tax firm with expertise in high net worth individuals, private foundations, entrepreneurial services, real estate development and investment strategies. For nearly a decade, DeWoody & Co. served the Palm Beach community as trusted advisors before merging into Daszkal Bolton. Colleen began her career at Ernst & Young, and worked in the real estate and high net worth individual practice groups in the West Palm Beach office.

Brett Burgan

Brett is a Partner, and oversees Litigation Support and Forensic Accounting services for Daszkal Bolton. Prior to joining the firm, Brett worked as a senior accountant for a local boutique CPA firm, where he performed forensic accounting, litigation support and management duties for bankruptcy, insolvency and litigation clients including numerous debtors, receivers, and panel trustees including temporary business management of Chapter 11 properties and businesses, forensic review and retrieval of books and records, identification and retrieval of concealed assets; preparation of preferential and insider fraudulent payment analyses, preparation of claims objection analyses, preparation of solvency analysis, preparation of Chapter 11 periodic reports, forecasts for continued operations, liquidation analyses for Chapter 11 confirmation, preparation of Chapter 11 bankruptcy schedules and statement of financial affairs. She provides consultations for the purpose of limiting the state tax impact of corporate decisions and activities. Faith concentrates on state and local tax issues for multi-state corporations, including nexus/jurisdiction for tax, economic and affiliate nexus, discriminatory taxation, unitary business principal, gross receipts definition, and apportionment issues. She also represents companies with multistate tax audits. In addition, Faith works with individuals changing residency to Florida including handling state residency audits. Faith has been qualified as an expert witness in state and local tax matters and provides testimony at depositions and trials in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach County.

Faith assists companies in restructuring their management operations to minimize state and local income taxes. She has successfully reduced large state sales tax assessments and frequently discovers overpayments of sales tax through her analyses. Faith also provides assistance for mergers, acquisitions and dispositions with multi-state interests. In addition, she negotiates with governmental authorities to secure exemptions for purchases of manufacturing machinery and equipment, and seeks tax incentives and tax credits.

Scott A. Walters

Scott is a Partner in the Audit & Accounting Services Department and is based in our Sunrise office. He provides expert guidance on technical matters related to generally accepted accounting principles and SEC rules and regulations. With a particular focus on the interpretation and application of new accounting pronouncements and compliance requirements, Scott guides for-profit companies and not-for-profit organizations to ensure a comprehensive understanding of corporate governance policies and the need for transparent financial reporting. He provides oversight and coordination of the Firm’s attestation practice, and is a member of the Executive Committee.

Scott has specialized in U.S. GAAP compliance and SEC rules and regulations since 1990 when he worked with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. He provides technical consultations on the application of generally accepted accounting principles for complex and/or structured transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.

Kathleen was previously employed by Ernst & Young LLP, where she initially worked in the New York hedge fund practice. She moved to Florida in 1999 and transferred to the Miami office where she worked on high net worth individuals providing both consulting and compliance services. Roger Cole

Faith L. Gorman

Experience

Faith is the Director of our State and Local Tax Practice at Daszkal Bolton. She is a nationally-recognized expert in state and local taxation, with a primary focus on income/franchise and sales and use taxation. She provides consultations for the purpose of limiting the state tax impact of corporate decisions and activities. Faith concentrates on state and local tax issues for multi-state corporations, including nexus/jurisdiction for tax, economic and affiliate nexus, discriminatory taxation, unitary business principal, gross receipts definition, and apportionment issues. She also represents companies with multistate tax audits. In addition, Faith works with individuals changing residency to Florida including handling state residency audits. Faith has been qualified as an expert witness in state and local tax matters and provides testimony at depositions and trials in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach County.

Faith assists companies in restructuring their management operations to minimize state and local income taxes. She has successfully reduced large state sales tax assessments and frequently discovers overpayments of sales tax through her analyses. Faith also provides assistance for mergers, acquisitions and dispositions with multi-state interests. In addition, she negotiates with governmental authorities to secure exemptions for purchases of manufacturing machinery and equipment, and seeks tax incentives and tax credits.

Prior to joining Daszkal Bolton, Faith worked as a Senior Tax Manager for the Washington National Tax practice of KPMG LLP and a Senior Tax Manager with Ernst & Young, where she was responsible for developing and expanding a multi-state tax practice in South Florida.

Brett is a Partner, and oversees Litigation Support and Forensic Accounting services for Daszkal Bolton. He provides forensic accounting assistance to attorneys and their clients in civil matters involving insolvency, stockholder disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, embezzlement, and other business related matters. He focuses on uncovering the essential facts of a case by completing a thorough analysis of the financial records, including computerized files. He participates in family and matrimonial matters, including exhibit preparation and testimony.

Prior to joining the firm, Brett worked as a senior accountant for a local boutique CPA firm, where he performed forensic accounting, litigation support and management duties for bankruptcy, insolvency and litigation clients including numerous debtors, receivers, and panel trustees including temporary business management of Chapter 11 properties and businesses, forensic review and retrieval of books and records, identification and retrieval of concealed assets; preparation of preferential and insider fraudulent payment analyses, preparation of claims objection analyses, preparation of solvency analysis, preparation of Chapter 11 periodic reports, forecasts for continued operations, liquidation analyses for Chapter 11 confirmation, preparation of Chapter 11 bankruptcy schedules and statement of financial affairs. In addition to working with numerous U.S. trustees and state and federal receivers, Brett has cooperated in investigations with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Brett obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Saint Francis College. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Florida, holds the Certified in Financial Forensics designation and is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor. Brett is a member of the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.

Raymond Saller

Experience

Ray oversees the area of human resource management for Daszkal Bolton. His primary responsibilities include the strategic development, recruitment and retention of the firm’s professionals. More specifically, he oversees talent management, employee relations, management of the firm’s employee benefits and compensation models, and ongoing employee engagement initiatives as well as the firm’s policies and procedures for all matters related to human capital.

Ray has more than 25 years of experience in human resources. Prior to joining Daszkal Bolton, he oversaw human resources in Florida for a national public accounting firm for eight years. Other professional experiences include a series of progressive roles in human resources with one of the nation’s largest providers of private security services.

Additionally, Ray has experience with the integration of corporate cultures through merger and acquisition activity, targeted recruitment at experienced and executive levels, development of a performance evaluation process, and various employee relation initiatives.

Ray is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
