Michael Daszkal has just received the 2012 Economic Development Council Volunteer of the Year Award for the Southeast Region. The Economic Development Volunteers of the Year Award is named in honor of Richard L McLaughlin, 2nd President of the EDC, who firmly believed in the significance of volunteer contributions to the achievement of economic development goals for Florida. In his honor, one outstanding volunteer is recognized annually in each of the eight FEDC Regions.
Michael Daszkal was honored for his work as chairman of the Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority, and for his work in the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, where he is a member of the Alliance’s Leadership Council.
Daszkal Bolton recently sponsored the South Florida Technology Alliance Summer Legislative Update which reviewed discussions in Tallahassee regarding bills that would: increase HighTech workforce development and place an educational emphasis on STEM courses; create a new Agency for State Technology; and lastly examined the bill to transfer responsibility for state broadband development to the Department of Economic Development.
