The Miami Association of REALTORS has invited Mark Chaves, International Tax Leader for Daszkal Bolton, to present on common mistakes that are made regarding the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA).
When a foreign national sells U.S. real estate, a 10 percent withholding tax on the gross selling price is automatically owed to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
At the request of the REALTORS association, Chaves will offer an overview of the tax laws. He will also provide some insight into how best to structure a purchase and how to address the sale of property. With ever increasing foreign investment into the Miami real estate, real estate agents in the area are encouraged to be familiar with requirements so that they can best direct their clients.
The presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 6:00pm until 7:30pm. Advance registration is required. For more information, visit Miami Association of REALTORS.
