Updated August 18, 2020

State and local tax relief due to COVID-19 varies by state. Although many states have offered income tax relief to mirror federal extensions for both businesses and individuals, there are nuances amongst states that must be considered to avoid unwanted interest and penalty assessments. Complicating matters further, only a small number of states have granted sales tax relief (limited in many cases) to date. This chart provides a state by state summary of income and sales tax extensions. Please note, state relief is constantly changing and thus, what is reflected on the chart as of this this moment may not hold true to future updates.
