The month of May 2012 marks 20 years since Michael Daszkal, CPA, and Jeff Bolton, CPA, tossed a coin in the kitchen of the Bolton household to decide if the new accounting firm they were going to create would be named “Daszkal Bolton” or “Bolton Daszkal”.
Either way the name of the firm has become synonymous over the years with leadership in the accounting profession and philanthropy in the community. With three locations: Boca Raton, Jupiter, and Fort Lauderdale, clients are sprinkled down throughout Palm Beach County, Broward, Miami-Dade and up to Martin County. The firm has grown to over 110 employees, and has been voted one of the “Best Accounting Firms To Work For” by Accounting Today four years in a row, a national honor. Founded in 1992, as an army of two, the first employee came along a year later. Daszkal Bolton was recently named one of the Fastest Growing Accounting Firms by IPA. The company headquarters has moved several times, but now is anchored on Boca Raton Boulevard in Boca Raton, Florida, and services clients across the nation.
According to Jeff Bolton, his memories of 1992 include:
– the Dow was about 3,000
– a gallon of gas costs $1.05
– Princess Diana and Prince Charles were just getting divorced
– George Bush was ousted by Bill Clinton, the newly elected President
– Hurricane Andrew hit Florida
– Whitney Houston starred in the movie “The Body Guard”
– The popular music was – “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred, and “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot
– The popular TV Shows were – “Roseanne” and “Home Improvement”
– In Sports – the Toronto Blue Jays won the World Series, and Gino Toretta won the Heisman Trophy
– And the Internet, Email, Facebook, Google, Amazon, Ebay, Twitter, YouTube, website, .com or dot anything, were not common words or didn’t exist at all!!!
20 years later, under the stewardship of Michael Daszkal, Jeff Bolton, Timothy Devlin, and Scott Walters, Daszkal Bolton has been consistently ranked as one of the top 25 accounting firms in South Florida by the South Florida Business Journal.
